I am in the middle of a mad-dash to save my life, get the girl, and exit the building before it explodes.  All while looking very, very cool.

Today I painted the words "Don't Panic", in nice friendly letters, onto the cover for my new Neutab.  Then I dug through the garbage of my mind, an external hard drive of pages and dust.  I found the half of my novel that I had lost, then lost the half that I had previously found.

This thing is closer to finished than I ever imagined.  I believe it's been working on it in my sleep.

To come to terms with this, I decided to take a break and clean out my Papaw's pencil case.  Aside from being INCREDIBLY useful to me over the years (it was also made about a 2 minute bike ride from where I live currently, at Flambeau), it also contains many lovely smells, sentiments, and memories of a very amazing man.

Cleaning out the pencil case was always something that had to be done, typically with some initial grumbling.  I always enjoyed watching him do these things, as they brought him great calm.  It is a wonderful practice, and I've only avoided it up to this point to preserve the smell of cigarettes, gum erasers and wooden pencils.
